Automotive Air Conditioning Refrigerant Handling IMI Level 3 Award (Legislative course)

If you work with air conditioning components and systems, you must undertake this course as a legal requirement.

Many motor vehicle technicians have limited experience or qualifications demonstrating their competence in air-conditioning components and systems. This qualification will provide you with the opportunity to develop new Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) skills and enhance existing ones. This DEFRA approved qualification meets the legislative F-Gas requirements for EC842/2006 and annex EC307/2008.


Entry requirements

You will need to be a qualified motor vehicle technician that requires the correct legislative certification for working on vehicle air conditioning systems.

Course content

This course will cover:

  • Refrigerant handling
  • Mobile air conditioning principles
  • System servicing.

Assessment methods

Online examination and practical skills assessment.

Additional information

To take part in this course you will need to provide suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) for use in the College workshops.
