Nail Technology City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate

This course is an introduction to nail technology. You will study the theory of nails, as well as nail extensions and learn how to conduct professional treatments in each system plus infils. This course is a work ready qualification to start a career as a nail technician. It is over one 20 weeks and is a recognised and insurable City & Guilds qualification.

Entry requirements

You will need a good level of English and an interest in nails and working with the public. 

Course content

You will focus on nail extensions as well as Health & Safety in the salon if you have not already achieved this qualification. (This is a separate award at an additional cost of £45).

You will study:

  • Health & Safety
  • UV gel, acrylic and fibre glass nail enhancements practically and the theory behind the treatments

Assessment methods

You will be assessed by carrying out treatments on clients in a realistic salon environment at BROOKS. You will have end of unit (theory) tests taken on a computer. There is an opportunity to gain a pass, merit or distinction in the practical assessments.

Further study and career options

This course could lead to a second year of study where you would gain the Level 3 (Advanced Level) Certificate in Nail Enhancements to advance your skills with liquid and powder and fibreglass enhancement systems. Each course will lead to employment either in a salon or as a self-employed nail technician. Your course tutors will advise on your best progression route during your course.

Additional information

You will need to purchase a kit, uniform and text book (through the College), these will be explained and more detail given during your information session/interview. You may also get the opportunity to visit a national beauty exhibition in London.

Funding information

If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
