Management & Leadership Level 5 Diploma

This qualification is for the development of the role and skills of managers. These qualifications aim to develop personal management capabilities, make effective us of information in decision-making, operations and the development of the skills in managing people.

CMI

Entry requirements

Entry is through interview. Learners must have either a degree or considerable management experience. Learners must be IT literate and able to write reports in a coherent and structured style.

Course content

You will study the following units:

  • Managing team and individual performance
  • Practices of resource management
  • Meeting stakeholder and quality needs
  • Conducting a marketing plan
  • Being a leader

Skill building in research, writing skills, presentations, interviewing, development of a business case or strategy, planning and evaluating are included.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through assignments which may involve a variety of business formats such as personal development plans, research projects, report writing, presentations, interviewing and planning.

Further study and career options

Students can apply for Chartered Manager status or apply to a university to do a Level 6 or 7 management or business top-up course.

Additional information

This course is delivered with a blended learning approach. On this course you will be required to attend one evening every four weeks for an introduction to CMI resources and the unit. You will then have access to the tutor for tutorials face to face, via email and by telephone. Significant study outside of college hours will be required to be successful on this course.

All aspects of management theory are covered and there is the opportunity to network and learn from other senior managers from a variety of business sectors. Deadlines are set for submission of assessments. Significant reading and preparation of assignments is required in your own time.
