First Line Management CMI Level 3 Diploma

This course has been developed for supervisors and first line managers who have operational responsibility for a defined area of activity. The qualification gives junior managers the communication and motivational skills to help improve operational efficiency.


Entry requirements

You will need to have either a Level 2 business-related qualification OR the ability to demonstrate Level 2 business knowledge through work experience.

Course content

You will study the following units:

  • Personal development as a first line manager
  • Resource planning
  • Meeting stakeholder needs
  • Managing and communicating information
  • Identifying development opportunities
  • Management communication
  • Being a leader

Assessment methods

You will be assessed on each unit through written reports, presentations and activities.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this course and with the relevant work experience you may wish to progress on to the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.

Additional information

This course is delivered with a blended learning approach. On this course you will be required to attend once a fortnight for an introduction to CMI resources and delivery of the unit content. You will then have access to the tutor for tutorials face to face, via email and by telephone. Significant study outside of college hours will be required to be successful on this course.

Deadlines are set for submission of assessments. Significant reading and preparation of assignments is required in your own time.
